Frequently asked questions
What is included in the free plan?
The free plan includes 20 saved recipes, 20 smart imports, 2 shopping lists, cloud sync, and access on iOS, Android, and web. It is a great way to try CookBook before upgrading.
What is included in CookBook Pro?
Both monthly and yearly Pro plans include unlimited saved recipes and smart imports, Ask CookBook, AI recipe creation and variations, the nutrition calculator with personal macro goals, meal planning, 10 shopping lists and cloud sync across iOS, Android and web. The Pro features are the same for both billing periods.
Can you help move my existing recipe collection?
Yes. Standard assisted imports have no additional fee beyond CookBook Pro. A 14-day Pro trial typically qualifies for a sample of your recipes; the team can move the full collection once you continue on paid Pro. Turnaround is usually 1 to 3 business days, depending on volume and complexity. Tell us about any recipes already in CookBook so we can agree how to handle overlap.
See supported files and request an import Can I back up and export my recipes?
Yes. Export all your recipes in CookBook, Text or PDF format, including on the free plan. Keep original photos separately: exported recipe files can link to CookBook-hosted images. Check a small sample before relying on a backup or deleting an account.
Follow the backup checklist What is the difference between monthly and yearly billing?
The monthly plan is charged when you subscribe and renews monthly. The yearly plan includes a 14-day free trial, then is billed once a year. Both include the same Pro features. Check the current price and offer in the app before confirming your subscription.
How does the 14-day free trial work?
Choose the yearly plan to try CookBook Pro for 14 days. If you keep the subscription, your first yearly payment follows the trial. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid that charge. You can also use the free plan without starting a trial.
Read about the free trial Do I need to pay separately on each device?
No. One CookBook plan works across all your devices, including iPhone, iPad, Android, tablets, computers, and laptops. Just sign in with the same account and your recipes will sync.
Can I cancel my free trial?
Yes. Cancel at least 24 hours before your 14-day free trial ends to avoid the first yearly charge. Manage the trial through the App Store, Google Play or the web billing portal, depending on where you subscribed. Deleting the app does not cancel your trial.
How to cancel your free trial Does my CookBook subscription renew automatically?
Yes. Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the current billing period ends through the App Store, Google Play or web billing portal where you subscribed. Cancelling a paid plan keeps your Pro access until the end of the paid period.
Manage or cancel your subscription What happens when I reach the free plan limits?
The free plan allows 20 saved recipes, 20 smart imports and 2 shopping lists. When you reach a limit, CookBook prompts you to choose a monthly or yearly plan to continue beyond it. You can export your recipes even on the free plan.
Read about free plan limits What happens to my recipes if my subscription expires?
Your account returns to the free plan. You can view your 20 most recent recipes and 2 shopping lists; older recipes and extra lists are locked until you resubscribe. You can still export all your recipes. See the help guide for the full access limits after a subscription ends.
Read about access after your subscription ends Why might the price in the app differ from this page?
The prices on this page are a guide in US dollars (USD). Prices and offers may vary by country, region and app store. The app shows the current price for your subscription before you confirm it. Changing the website language does not change your billing currency.
Check pricing and subscription options Which languages can I use in the CookBook app?
CookBook is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish and Portuguese. Choose the app language in Settings under Appearance. The website language picker changes this website, not your installed app.
Explore recipe translation Does translating a recipe change its measurements?
Language and measurement settings are separate. Translation aims to keep quantities and measurements intact. Choose your preferred unit system separately and review the result, particularly when a recipe uses regional cup or spoon measures.
How does CookBook compare with other recipe apps?
CookBook brings recipe importing, organisation, meal planning and shopping lists together across iOS, Android and web. Our guide compares six recipe managers by how you save recipes, cook and plan meals.
